MnSCU System Status

2009-11-06 D2L Unavailable 22:00 Fri Nov 6 to 10:00 Sat Nov 7

D2L will be unavailable to users from 10 PM on Friday, November 6 until 10 AM on Saturday November 7, 2009. The downtime will be used to take D2L v. 8.4.1 into production.

2009-11-08 eFolioMN / eFolioWorld Unavailable 5:00 am to 9:00 am

eFolioMN and eFolioWorld will be down for maintenance from 5:00 am to 9:00 am.

2009-11-07 [Update] ISRS student, faculty and administrative applications, Web Registration, eApplications Unavailable Saturday, November 7 from 2:00 AM - 7:00 AM.

Please be aware that the following applications: all ISRS student, faculty and administrative applications, Web Registration, eApplication and the Oracle database, will be unavailable on Saturday, November 7 from 2:00 AM - 7:00 AM. We will be using this time to prepare for the cut over to a new Itanium VMS server.

During this time students will not be able to submit applications, search for classes, register, or pay for classes. System applications such as HR-SCUPPS, Finance, Accounting, Student Housing, Student Payroll, etc., will not be available.

Applications that are NOT affected include ISEEK, DARS, CAS, CEB, Resource 25, RARE, Media Streaming, APPS, IAM, eFolio, Fundware and other miscellaneous applications.

Note that Desire2Learn will be upgraded to version 8.4.1 starting Friday at 10pm through Saturday at 10am. in a maintenance window that overlaps this outage. For more information on the D2L upgrade, see this announcement.

2009-11-02 - MnSCU eServices Registration Performance

MnSCU eServices application is experiencing performance problems affecting on line course registration. Developers and database personnel are working on the problem. There is no estimated resolution time.

2009-11-01 Enterprise Services Unavailable 05:00-09:00

A number of Enterprise Services will be unavailable to users Sunday, November 1 from 5 AM to 9 AM as System Administrators apply monthly patches. There will be brief downtimes for each application. Please plan your usage accordingly.

2009-11-01 D2L Unavailable 05:00-09:00

D2L will be unavailable to users Sunday, November 1 from 5 AM to 9 AM.
The D2L system will be switched back from the Failover environment to the Production environment. Please plan your usage accordingly.

2009-10-24 Data Center Shutdown, Update

MnSCU hosts the majority of their applications  in a data center at the University of Minnesota.  This facility is undergoing a planned electrical upgrade this weekend.

The downtime began on Saturday, October 24th at 4:00 AM.

Update 02:15pm Oct 25th: All applications are available.

Update 09:00 am Oct 25th: The electricians have determined that they need to modify the wiring on the Uninterruptible Power Supply that protects the data center from power interruptions. Estimated application availability time is 2pm Sunday, Oct 25th

Update 07:00 Oct 25th: The University of Minnesota has begun powering up data center infrastructure.  The electrical maintenance is about 8 hours behind schedule. Estimated application availability time is NOON Sunday, Oct 25th.

Update 11:30pm: The contractor has encountered an unexpected wiring issue in the WBOB data center, and they estimate that they have fallen approximately 5 hours behind schedule. Estimated application availability time is 9 am Sunday, Oct 25th. Update 04:03 pm: D2L performance issues appear to be resolved.

Update 03:30 pm: D2L is experiencing performance issues that are causing pages to display 'HTML 500 - Internal Error' errors. IT staff are working to resolve the problem.

Update 11:23 am: Work in the WBOB data center is proceeding on schedule. Update 09:00 am: eFolio Version 2 is experiencing unanticipated authentication related issues. The application has been taken off line until they can be resolved.

Update 08:30 am: D2L experienced temporary caching issues that caused pages to display 'Term not found' errors. The caching issues have been resolved.

2009-10-23 D2L Unavailable 21:00-22:00

D2L will be unavailable to users from 9-10 PM on Friday, October 23 to switch to the D2L Failover system. D2L will be available during the 2009-10-24 Data Center Shutdown, Electrical Upgrade. D2L will run on the failover system from 10 PM Friday, October 23 until 5 AM Sunday, November 1.

2009-10-24 Data Center Shutdown, Electrical Upgrade

MnSCU hosts the majority of their common technology applications (including ISRS and D2L) in a data center at the University of Minnesota.  This facility needs to undergo electrical upgrades the weekend of October 24/25.

The downtime will begin on Saturday, October 24th at 4:00 AM.

All services will be available by 7:00 AM on Sunday, October 25th.

For Desire2Learn only, there will be alternate outages on October 23rd from 9:00 to 10:00 PM to transfer the production system to the secondary data center and on November 1st from 5:00 to 9:00am to transfer the system back to the primary data center
