A number of Enterprise Services will be unavailable to users Sunday, November 1 from 5 AM to 9 AM as System Administrators apply monthly patches. There will be brief downtimes for each application. Please plan your usage accordingly.
MnSCU hosts the majority of their applications in a data center at the University of Minnesota. This facility is undergoing a planned electrical upgrade this weekend.
The downtime began on Saturday, October 24th at 4:00 AM.
Update 02:15pm Oct 25th: All applications are available.Update 09:00 am Oct 25th: The electricians have determined that they need to modify the wiring on the Uninterruptible Power Supply that protects the data center from power interruptions. Estimated application availability time is 2pm Sunday, Oct 25th
Update 07:00 Oct 25th: The University of Minnesota has begun powering up data center infrastructure. The electrical maintenance is about 8 hours behind schedule. Estimated application availability time is NOON Sunday, Oct 25th.
Update 11:30pm: The contractor has encountered an unexpected wiring issue in the WBOB data center, and they estimate that they have fallen approximately 5 hours behind schedule. Estimated application availability time is 9 am Sunday, Oct 25th. Update 04:03 pm: D2L performance issues appear to be resolved.
Update 03:30 pm: D2L is experiencing performance issues that are causing pages to display 'HTML 500 - Internal Error' errors. IT staff are working to resolve the problem.
Update 11:23 am: Work in the WBOB data center is proceeding on schedule. Update 09:00 am: eFolio Version 2 is experiencing unanticipated authentication related issues. The application has been taken off line until they can be resolved.
Update 08:30 am: D2L experienced temporary caching issues that caused pages to display 'Term not found' errors. The caching issues have been resolved.
MnSCU Applications that are unavailable for the duration of the outage;
MnSCU hosts the majority of their common technology applications (including ISRS and D2L) in a data center at the University of Minnesota. This facility needs to undergo electrical upgrades the weekend of October 24/25.
The downtime will begin on Saturday, October 24th at 4:00 AM.
All services will be available by 7:00 AM on Sunday, October 25th.
For Desire2Learn only, there will be alternate outages on October 23rd from 9:00 to 10:00 PM to transfer the production system to the secondary data center and on November 1st from 5:00 to 9:00am to transfer the system back to the primary data center
ISRS, eServices, RARE, U.Achieve (DARS), U.Select(CAS) and some Resource 25 databases will be unavailable Sunday June 21 2009 from 07:00 to 10:00.
IT staff will be performing routine database maintenance.
2009-05-03 04:45pm: One of the servers required for ISRS and eServices had a hardware component failure during the outage. HP service has been called. We have no estimate of when ISRS and eServices will be available.
2009-05-03 11:45am: The cooling system repairs were successful. Applications will start becoming available at 1pm.
2009-05-03 04:00am: The cooling system repair at the West Bank Datacenter has begun. All Enterprise Applications are currently unavailable. As planned, the shutdown began at 4am and is expected to last no longer than 6pm. Applications affected include ISEEK, DARS, CAS, eFolio, Desire2Learn, ISRS, eServices, CEB, Resource 25, RARE, Media Streaming, APPS, Lyris Mailing Lists and other miscellaneous applications. The University of Minnesota will be shutting down cooling systems at the West Bank Datacenter for repair of a cooling leak. This will affect all Enterprise Applications. As currently planned, the shutdown will begin at 4am and last no longer than 6pm. Applications affected include ISEEK, DARS, CAS, eFolio, Desire2Learn, ISRS, eServices, CEB, Resource 25, RARE, Media Streaming, APPS, Lyris Mailing Lists and other miscellaneous applications. RESOLVED. The source of the problem (a Denial of Service attack) was traced and has been resolved. ISRS, eServices and D2L systems were not affected, however, users at Metro schools experienced problems connecting to any website.

One of OET's core routers is causing routing and performance issues for parts of the metro area WAN. Most metro area colleges appear to be affected.
